Directions
* You are allowed to work by yourself or with a partner. No more than 2 people per group.
* Read all instructions carefully. You may only ask the TA, your group partner (if you have one) or myself
questions. Please note, I cannot review your work before your submission.
* The project will be graded as a group effort (if you have two people). This means that you are responsible for
your own work, and your partner’s work. I will not assign two different grades to one project.
* DO NOT post code or questions regarding the project on Piazza.
The Report Format
You or your team will turn in a short report. This means you should write in full sentences, and have the following
sections for each question, while being detailed about your results:
I. STA 108作业代做ntroduction. State the question you are trying to answer, why it is a question of interest, and what approach
you are going to take.
II. Summarize the data. This should include things like plots (histograms, boxplots) including the interpretation
of the plots, and summary values such as sample means and standard deviations. You should have an idea
about the trend of the data from this section.
III. Diagnostics. Perform diagnostics for the model and discuss if assumptions were violated. Note, continue with
the project if you do conclude assumptions were violated.
IV. Analysis. Report back the model fit, confidence intervals, test-statistics, and p-values, nulls and alternatives,
etc. You may use tables here, but be sure that you organize your work. Use complete sentences.
V. Interpretation. State your conclusion, and inference that you may draw from your corresponding tests or
confidence intervals. These should all be in terms of your problem.
VI. Prediction results. Here you will include your analysis about the requested predictions.
VII. Conclusion. Summarize briefly your findings. Here you do not have to re-iterate your numeric values, but
summarize all relevant conclusions.
Details
Your report should be the following format:
i. Include a title page with your name(s), STA 108, Section, and the name of your instructor (me).
ii. Include an appendix of your R code used to produce the results. R code should NOT be included in the body
of the report.
iii. A PDF file to submit to Canvas.

Problem
Houses sold in King County, Washington in a particular year were randomly sampled. The goal is to build a model
to help predict sale price based only on square footage of the home.
It is requested that you attempt the following predictions:
• Predict the average house price for houses with living square footage 2800.
• Predict the price of a particular house with living square footage 3200.
• Predict the average house price for houses with living square footage 8000.
The data is found in the file KingCounty.csv, with the following columns:
Column 1: price: The house price in dollars
Column 2: sqft living: The square footage of the living space (i.e., the house).
